For this project, I draw inspiration from my Vietnamese/Asian culture in which nature plays a vital part in a sense that people always incorporate nature into their daily life: fengshui, ancestor worshipment, religion,... When it comes to nature, there are 5 main elements: metal, wood, water, fire, earth (kim, mộc, thuỷ, hoả, thổ). I have developed an idea that each element design is a flag itself, a part of a bigger flag by combining all those elemtents.

I designed two patterns for this project with ideas from two Vietnamese big holidays: Hung Kings’ Festival (Hội Đền Hùng) and Tet Holiday. For Hung Kings’ Festival, I brought main elements in the design: traditional costumes, dragon figures, lotus, royal umbrellas, ... For the Tet Holiday, I used the 5 fruits traditionally put on ancestral altar as a means of worshipment and wish for luck.

“We want to address the intersection of sexual violence and binge drinking on college campuses by creating a water bottle that will remind people of the resources available to them and our campus expectations around consent. It will include information such as ways to intervene in dangerous situations, crisis numbers, and a reminder to obtain affirmative consent.”

“We want to create an online platform to better connect female coders who are in search for short-term projects and startups companies in early stage who have the projects. Our goal is to encourage more female coders to step into Computer Science industry and to improve the general environment for them.”
